Complainant retained Respondent to represent him in connection with all proceedings relating to the probate and administration of his father’s estate. Pursuant to the terms of a fee agreement, Respondent was entitled to a fee of $8,998.00. In the time period of eleven months after taking his fee, Respondent made out seven additional estate checks payable to his law firm totaling $23,500.00 and converted those funds which belonged to the estate. When confronted by Complainant, Respondent admitted to “double billing” and worked out an agreement with Complainant’s new counsel to repay Complainant the excess fees and costs. Respondent had a history of discipline of an informal admonition. |
