Respondent was convicted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania of one count of mail fraud and one count of health care fraud. Respondent was caught in a F.B.I. “sting” operation, which targeted individuals pursuing fake and exaggerated personal injury claims. Respondent entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to, inter alia, 60 days confinement followed by one year supervised release (the first 3 months of which was to be served on house arrest), a $10,000 fine, and restitution in the amount of $6,000.
Respondent agreed to consent discipline of suspension of three years.
Respondent and ODC agreed to several mitigating factors (admission, timely cooperation, remorse, and lack of a disciplinary record).
