In March of 2003, Respondent was disbarred in California. He was initially suspended in California on March 4, 2002, for three years, which suspension was stayed, and he was actually suspended for two years until he furnished proof to disciplinary authorities in California that he had made restitution to a client of $16,000, plus interest, along with other conditions. Respondent had failed to pursue an appeal in a criminal case, and did not refund $16,000 in unearned fees. He also had previously been subject to prior discipline of 180 days, which was extended for an additional 6 months. Respondent did not notify Pennsylvania of his disbarment or of his prior suspension.
