(Lemoyne, Pa.) - The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania announces that Carl D. Buchholz, III, a partner in the Philadelphia law firm Rawle and Henderson, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board.
The Disciplinary Board is an independent agency of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and is constructed of 16 members, 14 attorneys and two non-lawyers from across the state. It assists the Supreme Court in carrying out its exclusive jurisdiction over the licensing and discipline of attorneys in Pennsylvania. The members meet regularly to decide cases, policies and board administrative matters.
Buchholz is chair of Rawle and Henderson's appellate, insurance coverage, and maritime departments. His appellate practice has included an argument before the United States Supreme Court, as well as arguments before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Buchholz also maintains an active trial practice, handling insurance coverage, commercial, and personal injury litigation.
"Carl Buchholz brings leadership and valuable experience to the Disciplinary Board," Gary Gentile, chair of the Disciplinary Board said. "He has a thorough understanding of the disciplinary process and it's importance to the state legal system."
Buchholz graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1967 and with honors from Villanova Law School in 1970 where he served as associate editor of the Villanova Law Review.Buchholz is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States District for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. In addition, he recently completed a six-year term as Chair and Board Member of the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security Board.
The Disciplinary Board's goals are to protect the general public, maintain
a high standard of integrity in the legal profession and safeguard the reputation
of the courts of Pennsylvania. The Disciplinary Board was created by the Supreme
Court of Pennsylvania to review conduct and assure compliance by all attorneys
to the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct. For more information about
