Temporary Limited Practice by Katrina-Displaced Lawyers

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has issued an order extending a temporary limited right to practice in Pennsylvania to lawyers from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama who were displaced from their offices by the effects of Hurricane Katrina. For nine months, such lawyers will be allowed to practice from locations in Pennsylvania, provided such practice is limited to furnishing legal services to their clients with respect to actions or matters arising out of the jurisdictions where they are licensed. Such lawyers are not permitted to hold themselves out as licensed Pennsylvania attorneys or as authorized to practice Pennsylvania law.
