Attorney Marc S. Raspanti To Speak At Health Law Institute

(Camp Hill, Pa.) - Marc S. Raspanti, a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania will speak at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's 12th Annual Health Law Institute on March 15 and 16 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. He will co-present "An Insider's Look at How the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Process Works: A Practitioner's Primer" with Raymond Wierciszewski, the disciplinary counsel-in-charge of the Office of the Disciplinary Council's (ODC) District Two office.

"As members of the Disciplinary Board, it is our responsibility to educate attorneys about Pennsylvania's disciplinary process," Raspanti said. "Our CLE presentation on ethics is part of the board's ongoing effort to openly communicate with the state's attorneys."

The Disciplinary Board's goals are to protect the general public, maintain a high standard of integrity in the legal profession, and safeguard the reputation of the courts of Pennsylvania. The board is comprised of 14 attorneys and two non-lawyers from across Pennsylvania who meet regularly to review and decide cases, policy and board administrative matters.

The Health Law Institute provides law professionals an opportunity to explore the latest-breaking health law issues through 57 different workshops. Raspanti and Wierciszewski will present an ethics overview, March 16 at 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., on the disciplinary process in Pennsylvania. The seminar explains how complaints are investigated, prosecuted and adjudicated in the system. The seminar will also discuss pre-hearing exchange of information, the hearing and appellate processes, the role of the Disciplinary Board.

Marc Raspanti practices law at the Philadelphia based law firm Miller, Alfano, and Raspanti in which he is a founding shareholder. He specializes in criminal, civil and administrative health care fraud defense.

Raymond S. Wierciszewski is the disciplinary counsel-in-charge of the ODC District Two office in Montgomery County. The role of ODC is to investigate complaints against attorneys, and when appropriate, prosecute. ODC also provides educational programs for attorneys and consumers. Wierciszewski earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. He resides in Trooper, Pennsylvania.

The Disciplinary Board was created by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to review conduct and assure compliance by all attorneys to the Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct.
