(Lemoyne, Pa.) The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania announces that Gary G. Gentile, a partner in the Pittsburgh law firm of Goldberg, Gruener, Gentile, Horoho and Avalli, has been named chair of the Communications Committee of the Disciplinary Board.

The Disciplinary Board is an independent agency funded by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania consisting of sixteen members; fourteen attorneys and two non-lawyers from across the Commonwealth. It assists the Supreme Court in carrying out its exclusive jurisdiction over the licensing and discipline of attorneys in Pennsylvania. The members meet regularly to decide cases, policies and board administrative matters.

The Communications Committee is responsible for disseminating information to the approximately 60,000 attorneys licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, and to the consumers who use their services.

Mr. Gentile has served in a variety of capacities with the Disciplinary Board: as a Hearing Committee member, Vice-chair of the Board, and as Chair of the Board. Additionally he has served as Vice-chair of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania's Domestic Relations Rules Committee.

Gentile says he became involved with the Disciplinary Board because of its significance to the Pennsylvania legal system. "The function of the Board is of critical importance in regulating the interaction between the Bar and the public in the disciplinary process, " he said upon being named Chair of the Disciplinary Board in 2006.

A graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, Mr. Gentile obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. In a wide-ranging legal career, he has been an Assistant Public Defender for Allegheny County; Director of the Juvenile Division; Chief Counsel for the Homicide Division; and later served as the Executive Director of the Allegheny County Housing Authority before turning his expertise to family law. He has been continuously listed in the Best Lawyers in America, with his peers listing him as one of the top 50 lawyers in Pittsburgh, top 50 in Allegheny County and top 100 in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Gentile is also a member of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Family Law Section and the Family Law Council of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) and is former Chairperson of the Family Law Section and Chairperson of the Bench Bar Program Committee for the ACBA.
